Who I Am

   I love my family and it is so much fun being together when we can. I know the photo above is not a glamour shot. We are not dressed in our best. I should plan that sometime. But we are having a blast, making memories and enjoying just being together.

I am a wife, mother and grandmother who has followed her life-long dream of being a writer. I write children's books, my memoirs, family history and more. 

When there is a passion in your heart to do something productive and positive -- follow that passion, follow that dream. I did and in so doing I discovered the difference between what I would like to do and who I am. I am a self-published writer.

I encourage anyone and everyone who has the desire to write but feels like they are too old or too young, do not be concerned. Just write and don't fear age, misspelled words or grammar problems. That can be taken care of later. Writing is what is important. Get your ideas down then make them into sentences, then into paragraphs. The next thing you realize, you have a book or a story! Self-publishing makes it possible for you to have your book in your hands. Even on Amazon.com, LuLu.com and other major outlets.

The NLAPW was founded in 1897. The arts organization is headquartered in The Pen Arts Building in the DuPont Circle of Washington, D.C.

As Pen Women our mission is to encourage, recognize, and promote the production of creative work of professional standard. We do this through outreach activities, we provide educational, creative, and professional support to members and nonmembers alike. Our core values are respect for one another, as well as knowledge, creation, respect, and preservation of the arts. NLAPW is a not-for-profit 501 (C) (3) corporation.

Photography is one of my passions. I love to travel, explore and search for "just the right shot," as all photographers do. A good quality cell phone is so handy these days in snapping a shot on the spur of the moment. In years past I would hang my camera around my neck and take it most everywhere I went. I never knew when a photo opportunity would arise, and I didn't want to miss that shot. I still take my camera bag and lug around my tripod, but my cell phone is my handy go-to camera. Of course, I purchase the phone with the best quality camera.
